Psalms: Layer by Layer Training
At the end of the training, one participant’s final thought was different from the rest.
“May God richly bless the Scriptura training for its insight into the book of Psalms and for its materials. These are resources we have never seen before regarding a better way to translate the Hebrew poetry we encounter in the Psalms.”
The phrase that lands is “we have never seen before.” The translators in Mbandaka were not beginners — they were experienced facilitators with strong theological and OBT backgrounds who had been working in scripture translation for years. And in all that time, they had never encountered tools specifically designed to help them translate Hebrew poetry.
Every single respondent left the training with at least a moderate degree of confidence to begin translating Psalms. Four had a high degree of confidence. Nobody had none. That shift — from never having seen the tools to feeling ready to use them — is what Scriptura exists to make possible, everywhere this gap remains.
